The #Mitreden für Demokratie project engages youngsters in democratic participation in European society. They deal with the democratic foundations of Germany and Europe, identify the roots of undemocratic tendencies and form their opinion about the state of European and German democracy. The participants detect and critically analyse anti-democratic tendencies and develop arguments against these threats to democracy that take the form of a toolkit. It helps them to find their voice in a political landscape in which actors openly endorse undemocratic champions worldwide and are flirting with undemocratic policies. Youngsters are activated to use democratic participation channels for articulating their democratic needs and demands for the future. The project will engage young people in an open dialogue with a political decision-maker. The event series is a “laboratory for democracy” in which youngsters exercise their democratic communication rights to fight for their right to be heard.
