We aim to strengthen meaningful youth participation in structurally disadvantaged areas by enabling young people to move from consultation to real decision-making and action. The project empowers young people to develop ideas, allocate youth budgets, and implement projects that respond to local needs, while gaining practical experience in democratic processes. Our objectives are to increase young people’s self-efficacy, democratic competence, and sense of responsibility; to create inclusive, low-threshold participation spaces for young people with fewer opportunities; and to establish sustainable dialogue between youth, municipalities, and youth welfare structures. Through participatory budgeting and youth-led action, the project contributes to embedding youth participation into everyday local governance practices beyond the project lifetime. At the same time, we aim to build durable participation structures that municipalities and youth ecosystems can keep using.
