Through Shift Up!, we aim to support young people’s personal growth, self-confidence, environmental awareness and active participation by engaging them in a meaningful international non-formal learning experience. From a youth work perspective, the project empowers young people to take responsibility, collaborate across cultures, and experience youth participation in practice. The main objectives of the project are: to develop key competences such as communication, teamwork, leadership and self-reflection through non-formal learning; to support young people in moving from shyness and insecurity towards confidence, initiative and active citizenship; to raise awareness of sustainable behaviour, environmental responsibility and healthy, active lifestyles; to strengthen international cooperation and intercultural understanding among young people. By taking an active role in planning and leading parts of the programme, young people experience youth work as a learning process where they facilitate activities, cooperate with peers, reflect on their learning and engage responsibly in a supportive and inclusive environment.
