Through this project, we want to respond to the real challenges young people face today in relation to emotions, communication and media influence. Many young people experience strong emotional pressure through social media, comparison, information overload and online conflicts, which often leads to confusion, low self-esteem and difficulties in communication. These challenges are not only digital, but deeply connected to young people’s everyday lives, relationships and sense of belonging. From a youth work perspective, the project aims to create a safe and supportive learning space where young people can talk openly about their experiences, explore their emotions and reflect on how media affects their thinking and behaviour. By using non-formal learning methods, we want to help young people better understand themselves and others, develop healthier ways of expressing emotions and build more respectful and meaningful communication. Another key objective is to strengthen young people’s critical media literacy. We want participants to become more aware of how media content, opinions, algorithms and emotional framing influence their attitudes and decisions. This is especially important in a time when young people are surrounded by large amounts of information and often feel unsure about what to believe and how to form their own opinions. At the same time, the project supports youth participation and empowerment. Young people will not only take part in activities, but actively shape the project by choosing topics, preparing and leading workshops and creating the media campaign. This allows them to gain confidence, responsibility and practical experience in teamwork, communication and project work. Through international cooperation, the project also promotes intercultural learning and inclusion. By working together with young people from different countries and backgrounds, participants will learn to see similarities and differences in how emotions, communication and media are experienced, which helps to reduce stereotypes and strengthen empathy and mutual understanding. Overall, the project aims to support young people in becoming more emotionally aware, more critically minded and more confident in their everyday lives, while also strengthening youth workers’ ability to address these topics in their practice and continue supporting young people beyond the exchange.
