Objectives

“Permission to BE” is a youth-initiated project that emerged from conversations with young people involved in youth organisations and previous Erasmus+ exchanges. Young people expressed a strong need for safe and creative spaces where they can talk about mental wellbeing, explore self-expression and feel accepted without fear of judgement. The project aims to create an inclusive, youth-led environment where adolescents aged 14–18 can develop emotional awareness, strengthen communication skills and experience inclusion in mixed-ability and multicultural groups. The focus is on practical, creative and non-formal learning rather than theoretical discussions. The 7-day Youth Exchange in Tallinn, Estonia, will bring together 25 young people from Lithuania, Estonia, Italy, Portugal and Poland. Each national group includes young people with fewer opportunities, ensuring diversity and meaningful inclusion. Participants will co-design and facilitate creative workshops, discussions and reflection activities focused on mental health, self-expression and inclusion. The programme follows a clear pedagogical structure, moving from trust-building and emotional safety to creative exploration, practical inclusion and co-creation. A key tangible result of the project is the development of an interactive self-expression notebook created by the participants themselves. The notebook will later be adapted into a digital version and shared locally and internationally. Beyond the exchange, participants will organise follow-up mini-sessions in their communities and take part in an online reflection meeting one month after the activity. The project contributes to strengthening youth participation, inclusion and wellbeing in local youth work practices and promotes Erasmus+ values of diversity, active citizenship and intercultural cooperation.
