Through the implementation of the project, we aim to support young people’s mental well-being and to prevent mental health-related problems by using creativity and movement as accessible, youth-friendly and non-formal methods within youth work practice. From a youth work perspective, our objective is to provide young people with a safe and supportive learning environment where they can, through experiential learning, explore their emotions, thoughts and self-expression, and develop skills that support their everyday coping. The project focuses on increasing young people’s awareness of mental health and on developing practical skills that help them cope with stress, anxiety and emotional tension. Creative and movement-based activities offer young people the opportunity to find self-care methods that suit them personally and support a preventive approach to mental well-being, which is an essential part of youth work. Through the project, we support the development of young people’s self-expression skills and self-confidence. Creativity and movement enable young people to express their feelings and experiences even when these are difficult to put into words. This contributes to increased self-awareness and encourages young people to express their thoughts and needs more openly. An important objective of the project is also to strengthen young people’s social skills and sense of belonging. Joint activities create a trusting group environment where young people experience cooperation, mutual support and care. This is particularly meaningful for young people who have previously faced difficulties in group participation or social inclusion. The project encourages young people to take an active role in community life and international cooperation. Young people gain the experience that their contributions and ideas are valuable and that they are capable of initiating and implementing activities that support both their own and others’ mental well-being. Participation in an international youth exchange broadens young people’s worldviews and develops their intercultural competence, tolerance and openness.
