Objectives

The objective of the project is to strengthen the quality, accessibility and relevance of youth work practice by enhancing youth workers’ competences to reach and work with 18+ young people who do not participate in traditional youth work settings. The project is rooted in everyday youth work practice and focuses on developing practical, adaptable and community-based approaches that allow youth workers to maintain meaningful contact with young adults beyond youth centre-based activities. Through the implementation of the project, we aim to ensure that youth workers are better equipped to identify, approach and engage 18+ young people, taking into account their life situations, responsibilities and motivations. The project supports youth workers in designing participation and learning opportunities that are connected to young people’s real-life contexts, community involvement and personal development needs. A key objective is to develop youth workers’ capacity to apply community-based methods, outreach strategies and non-formal learning approaches in a flexible and context-sensitive way. The international mobility enables participants to observe, compare and critically analyse different practices, and to adapt them meaningfully to their local environments rather than transferring models mechanically. The project also aims to strengthen reflective practice and professional self-awareness among youth workers. By engaging in structured reflection and comparative analysis, participants develop the ability to assess their own work critically, evaluate its impact, and make informed decisions about improving their methods and cooperation models. At organisational level, the objective is to foster organisational learning and strengthen cooperation within youth work networks. The project seeks to ensure that knowledge and practices acquired during the mobility are shared internally and within networks such as Eurodesk, thereby contributing to sustainable improvements in youth work practice and to a more strategic approach to engaging 18+ young people.
