The rapid integration of digital technologies into our lives has made young people active users of the digital world. However, this development has also led to an increase in digital security threats. Research indicates that young people lack awareness and knowledge regarding digital security. According to the Global Cybersecurity Index (2022), a significant portion of young people are vulnerable to digital security threats and do not possess sufficient knowledge on the subject. A study published by the European Commission in 2023 shows that 70% of young people in Europe face a lack of information on digital security issues and are vulnerable to online threats. This situation leaves young people unprotected against threats in the digital world, leading to serious issues such as cyberbullying, identity theft, cyber harassment, and the uncontrolled growth of digital footprints. A study conducted in Greece provides deeper insights into the digital security challenges faced by young people. According to a report by the Hellenic Data Protection Authority (2022), 45% of young people in Greece do not manage their personal data securely on online platforms and face risks related to social media usage. Various projects and initiatives have been implemented in Europe and Greece to address this issue. The European Union's "Safer Internet Programme" aims to raise awareness about digital security by providing education and resources on online threats (European Commission, 2020). Similarly, some civil society organizations in Greece organize digital security seminars and workshops to teach young people how to protect themselves against online threats (Hellenic Data Protection Authority, 2021). However, these efforts have had limited impact, and comprehensive awareness of digital security has not been established among young people. This project aims to enhance young people's awareness of digital security from a youth work perspective and to help them develop conscious behaviors against online threats. Within the scope of the project, young people will gain practical knowledge and skills such as recognizing digital threats, protecting personal data, creating secure passwords, and setting up social media security settings. Furthermore, they will acquire the necessary knowledge and competencies to protect their online identities and navigate the digital world responsibly. At the end of the project, the improvement in young people's digital security awareness and the project's effectiveness will be measured through an evaluation survey. Ensuring security in the digital world is crucial not only for individual safety but also for societal security and harmony. This project aims to increase the digital security awareness of Generation Z within the youth work domain and make them more conscious and resilient against online threats. Specific Objectives: • To increase young people's awareness of digital security, encouraging them to adopt more conscious behaviors against online threats. • To equip Generation Z with skills to develop safe behaviors on digital platforms and to resist threats such as cyberbullying. • To educate young people on personal data protection and digital footprint awareness.
