The subject that we would like to address through the “Cre8yourself” project is the concept and state of Wellness/Prosperity, in other words and more familiar definition to all of us, “Well-Being”. The idea of the project was prompted by our participation in the research launched by the IASIS NGO in 2021 on Well-Being and Mental Health and the decision was made after the announcement of the subject of the World Psychic Health Day (10.10.2022): Make Mental Health Well-Being for All a Global Priority. The central idea of this Youth Exchange focuses on the empowerment of young people, which in the last three years, due to the Covid-19 pandemic, they experienced mental and physical imbalance, insecurity and confusion. According to the survey Covid-19 in Greece: Psychological Imprint of the University of Western Attica, the effect on mental health of young people is large and manifests itself with intense stress, stressful disorders, grief /melancholia, irritability and panic attacks. A report by the World Health Organization (WHO) entitled "Mental health of children and young people in the WHO European region. Status and actions to enhance quality of care " (November, 2025) reveal significant and growing mental health needs among young people, as 1 in 7 young people (0-19 years old) lives with some form of mental illness. It is reported that suicide remains the leading cause of death for young people 15-29 years old. These data have led us to the design of the “Cre8yourself project”, which is based on eight (8) dimensions of conquest of subjective well-being. The term “subjective well- being” refers to the phenomenon in which a person has discovered the meaning of life, realizes that his/her life is good, experiences positive emotions and focuses on those conditions that offer life quality (Diener & Diener, 1995 / 2009, Lucas Diener, 2008 / 2009). In order to be able to come closer to Psychological Welfare, which is also a global priority, we need to learn the eight (8) dimensions of Wellness and to practice them consciously with the same effort we do when learning a foreign language. The objective of the exchange will be twofold. On the one hand, young people will learn and experience the eight (8) dimensions of Well Being and will CRE-8 themselves while at the same time as an educational window this experience will be a personal material to be applied by their peers by activating the role of the Youth Worker in them. The objectives of the project are: Increase participants’ consciously positive feelings in their lives Commit to engaging in activities in which they can be fully absorbed and experience what in positive psychology is called Establish positive human relationships (crucial pillar of personal happiness) Provide and gain a sense of purpose in life Learn how to move forward despite the difficulties, in order to achieve success, progress and happiness that are very important to our well-being. Our project, throughout all its phases, is based on the principles of non-formal learning, democratic dialogue and cooperation with a view to bringing about substantial changes to participants in terms of knowledge, perceptions, attitudes and skills. Through their participation, young people will acquire knowledge, develop their critical thinking, build new skills and act as active and effective citizens who pay attention and act on important social issues. Young people will have a good time and learn through the immediate practical implementation of what they learn - Learning by doing. We believe that the active participation of the public, especially of young people, is the utmost important for the effectiveness and acceptance of policies and any individual and collective practice can bring about substantial changes. Our project is harmonized with the already established National and European priorities and brings to the surface the very key issue of Personal and Social Welfare for immediate action. Finally, the aim is to inform the public about social media and the implementation of Connect your City App. By boosting action to the community on the last day of the youth exchange, so that the results of the project can be visible, increase awareness and involve more people.
