Media literacy and tackling disinformationDigital safetyInclusion of marginalised young people

Objectives

Through the project Don’t click it, re!, we want to strengthen youth work practice in the field of digital safety and media literacy by offering a high-quality Youth Exchange that is practical, inclusive and youth-led. Our main aim is to support young people to navigate online environments safely, critically and responsibly, and to help them become positive peer influences in their communities. In youth work terms, our first objective is to equip young people with everyday competences that protect their wellbeing and opportunities in the digital world. Participants will improve practical habits such as recognising risky links, understanding privacy and data traces, and responding appropriately to online incidents. They will also strengthen media literacy by learning how to question and verify information, recognise manipulation and disinformation, and understand how online platforms shape what people see and share. These competences are addressed through non-formal learning methods that allow young people to practice skills in realistic situations and reflect on their behaviour without judgement. Our second objective is to increase young people’s confidence and participation. The exchange will develop communication, teamwork and intercultural competence through mixed-country cooperation and shared responsibility. Participants will practice respectful online participation, including how to act as supportive bystanders against cyberbullying and harmful content. They will learn to express opinions, listen to others and work constructively in a diverse group, which strengthens active citizenship and democratic attitudes in digital spaces. Our third objective is to make international youth work more inclusive. Each partner group will include young people with fewer opportunities, linked to economic barriers, NEET situations and social barriers. We will apply practical inclusion measures such as reinforced preparation, a buddy system, accessible materials, structured roles and a dedicated wellbeing focal point. This ensures that young people who face barriers can participate meaningfully, build self-confidence and experience success in an international learning environment. Our fourth objective is to create youth-led results that can be used by others. Participants will co-create a social media awareness campaign and a practical toolkit for peers, using language and formats that young people relate to. These outputs will support peer-to-peer learning beyond the project group and will remain available for partners to share and reuse after the exchange. Youthpass will support learning recognition, helping participants understand and describe the competences they developed and how they can use them in their future lives. By implementing this project, we aim to strengthen youth work capacity to respond to current digital challenges with empowering, skill-based and inclusive approaches, while supporting young people to become safer, more critical and more responsible participants in online and offline communities.
