Objectives

The CARE4CARE project aims to strengthen the quality and sustainability of youth work by equipping youth workers with practical mental health skills that can be applied in their daily work with young people. From a youth work practice perspective, the project responds to the growing emotional and psychosocial challenges faced by both young people and those who support them. Youth workers are increasingly required to manage stress, emotional pressure, and complex situations, often without sufficient training or structured support focused on well-being and prevention. The main objective of the project is to improve youth workers’ competences in mental health awareness, prevention, emotional resilience, and self-care, while reinforcing their ability to create safe, inclusive, and supportive youth work environments. Through a professional development activity in Greece, the project supports youth workers in developing practical skills such as active listening, stress management, ethical boundary setting, reflective practice, and the integration of well-being approaches into non-formal education activities. CARE4CARE also aims to enhance the quality and innovation of youth work by connecting mental health expertise with non-formal learning methodologies. By encouraging reflection, peer learning, and exchange of practices across countries, the project supports youth workers in adapting mental health-informed approaches to different youth work contexts. At organisational level, the project contributes to healthier working cultures and more sustainable youth work practices by promoting prevention, care for professionals, and recognition of youth workers’ competences. Overall, CARE4CARE seeks to strengthen youth work as a professional field by supporting those who care for young people, ensuring that youth workers are better prepared, more resilient, and more confident in their role, ultimately leading to higher-quality support for young people across diverse social contexts.
