We want to carry out this project because young people—especially from rural areas—need concrete knowledge, skills, and motivation to act as environmental citizens in their everyday lives and local communities. Climate change, environmental degradation, and unsustainable consumption directly affect rural environments, yet young people often lack practical opportunities to actively engage with these challenges. Te project aims to empower young people to understand environmental issues, reflect on their personal and collective responsibility, and develop sustainable practices through non-formal, experiential learning. By combining environmental education, outdoor activities, creativity, and peer exchange (e.g. workshops on climate change, sustainable fashion, nature-based learning, and responsible use of natural resources), participants will strengthen environmental awareness, critical thinking, and active citizenship skills. The objective of the exchange is to encourage young people to become active environmental citizens who transfer the acquired knowledge, attitudes, and good practices into their local rural communities, contributing to long-term environmental sustainability and civic engagement. We particularly aim to provide young people with opportunities to participate in international activities, as many of them would otherwise not be able to do so due to financial reasons or because they come from farming backgrounds, where daily responsibilities often limit mobility. Through this project, we enable their participation in international exchanges, encourage intercultural learning, and create space for young people to meet peers from other countries.
