The project aims to provide an inclusive and meaningful European learning experience for young people with very different life backgrounds, using non-formal education and youth work practices as its core approach. Through a youth exchange hosted in Finland, the project seeks to empower young people to actively participate in a shared process of learning, decision-making and cooperation, while strengthening their personal, social and intercultural competences. A key objective is to ensure access to European opportunities for young people with fewer opportunities, in particular Finnish young people living under public guardianship in professional foster care. The project is designed to adapt participation to individual capacities, rhythms and support needs, ensuring that all young people can engage safely and meaningfully. Another objective is to promote awareness and everyday practices related to brain health and well-being, understood in a preventive and holistic way. From a youth work perspective, this is addressed not as a therapeutic intervention, but as a participatory learning process where young people reflect on their daily habits, relationships and environments, and develop greater agency over their own well-being. The project also aims to strengthen young people’s sense of ownership and participation by involving them in the preparation, implementation and follow-up of the exchange, including the selection of thematic priorities and the joint development of learning activities.
