Objectives

"Back to the Future" is a Youth Exchange between Finland and Romania bringing together 30 young people aged 14-19 and 8 adults from two youth organizations with over 10 years of partnership. The project takes place in Măgura, Brașov County, Romania in October 2026. The project theme is "Who am I?" - a fundamental question for young people at a stage of life when they face important decisions about their future - during their teen ages they need to decide on studies and career path. Youths in both groups express they feel uncertain about these choices and about who they are and their place in the community and would benefit from tools to better understand themselves. Our three objectives are: 1. Help 30 young people understand themselves better - their values, interests, strengths, and motivations - so they can approach adulthood with more confidence and clarity. 2. Support participants in exploring their future paths by discovering what they enjoy and what kind of life they want to build, connecting personal identity to education and career possibilities. 3. Develop participants' social and communication skills through intercultural dialogue, teamwork, and peer connection - building relationships that last beyond the project. From a youth work perspective, we achieve these objectives through non-formal learning: youth-led workshops, art-based activities, role-play, reflection sessions, and hands-on learning with community guests. Young people are involved in all stages of the project, from application to follow-up, because we believe the best learning happens when young people feel genuine ownership of the process.
