Objectives

This project aims to strengthen non-formal education, mobility, and the active participation of young people through a collective French-Spanish experience focused on environmental exploration, intercultural cooperation, and personal development. The objectives were defined in line with youth work practices and the values upheld by the partner organizations. One of the primary objectives is to promote inclusion and cultural openness. Through the exchange between 12 French and 12 Spanish young people, the project encourages intercultural communication, mutual understanding, and the fight against stereotypes. The youth work approach relies on participatory methods (ice-breaker games, playful language workshops, team challenges) that help adolescents quickly build a caring and inclusive group dynamic. Another key objective is to develop autonomy, self-confidence, and a sense of responsibility. The activities offered—whether taking place in the ocean environment (surfing, sailing, cycling, treetop adventure course) or in the mountains of El Rasillo—are designed to place young people in situations that require perseverance, mutual support, and initiative. Youth workers use experiential learning approaches that encourage participants to analyse their achievements, express their emotions, and acknowledge their progress. The project also aims to promote a healthy lifestyle and a positive relationship with nature. Outdoor and sport activities provide opportunities to address, through facilitated workshops, topics such as safety, environmental respect, cooperation, stress management, or the prevention of risky behaviours. The objective is for young people to return home with new habits and a strengthened ecological awareness. In terms of citizenship and democratic participation, the project seeks to give young people a meaningful role in the organisation and evaluation of the exchange. They are encouraged to make collective decisions (daily life organisation, common rules, choices of certain activities), to share their perspectives, and to co-build the project. These practices strengthen their ability to express themselves, listen to others and act as responsible citizens. Finally, one of the cross-cutting objectives is to develop the key competences that youth work seeks to reinforce: communication, teamwork, critical thinking, creativity, adaptability, language skills and social competences. These learning outcomes will be supported throughout the stay through non-formal methods such as circle discussions, reflective debriefings, cooperative games, intercultural challenges, and collaborative production workshops. In summary, this project aims to contribute fully to the holistic development of young people by offering them a rich and diverse non-formal learning environment rooted in the values of cooperation, respect, and sharing.
