Musical Travels is an orchestra exchange project bringing together young musicians from France, Germany and Romania aged 13 to 18. It is part of a co-construction process that has been developed over the past three years, during which the young people have gradually imagined, structured and shaped the project, supported by the educational teams. Designed with, by and for young people, Musical Travels responds to their needs for encounters, collective creation and European openness. The participants will work together on a shared repertoire combining traditional music and local works, while developing digital skills through the production of content (videos, interviews, podcasts, digital logbooks). They will present their work during concerts organised in each partner country. These public performances showcase the territories visited and encourage interaction with local audiences, while strengthening young musicians’ motivation, self-confidence and sense of social usefulness. Unique in Brittany, this project is, to our knowledge, the only one currently offered by the conservatoire within the framework of Erasmus+ Youth. It aims to develop autonomy, social, civic and digital skills, promote inclusion and strengthen the sense of belonging to a shared European citizenship, using music and digital tools as instruments of non-formal education. PROJET IMPLEMENTATION The project includes three one-week mobilities, one in each partner country. Each mobility will combine: * Rehearsals and concerts: orchestra work and public performances, highlighting both the young participants and the host territories. * Cultural and heritage discovery: visits to emblematic sites and local activities (Mont-Saint-Michel, Dinan, Ocna Mureș, Abstatt, etc.). * Sport and environmental activities: kayaking, hiking, land sailing, beach clean-ups, waste sorting and the Recycl’Art challenge. These shared experiences strengthen group cohesion, autonomy, cooperation and the creation of lasting shared memories. Participation and co-construction From the outset, young people have been fully involved in the design and development of the project. They take part in the choice of repertoire, the organisation of activities, reflections on the mobilities and the hosting of foreign delegations, as well as in the digital documentation and dissemination of the project (recording, editing, digital logbooks, sharing). This progressive involvement, built up over several years, enables young people to take ownership of the project, assume real responsibilities and develop commitment, initiative and a strong sense of collective responsibility. Inclusion, learning outcomes and impact The project values every young person, regardless of their musical level or social and cultural background. Rehearsals, concerts and collective activities, together with digital creation, allow each participant to find their place and to develop autonomy, creativity, relational skills and transferable digital competences. Regular reflection moments (logbooks, group discussions, feedback sessions) enable young people to assess their progress on musical, personal, digital and intercultural levels. In order to extend the project’s impact, young people will disseminate their work through European café-concerts, local presentations, exhibitions and shared digital content. In doing so, they will strengthen their organisational, digital and civic competences, while sharing their experience well beyond the initial group.
