The “Buts d'Horizons” project aims to empower young people in Mangajou and Mayotte, an overseas territory marked by extreme poverty and geographical isolation, by offering them a transformative international experience through a football and intercultural exchange with Romania, in partnership with Tinerii 3D. The goal is to promote their personal, social, and cultural development by using sport as a tool for non-formal education and inclusion. From a youth work perspective, the project has several main objectives: - To strengthen the autonomy and self-confidence of young people from Mayotte, who are often limited by a fragile socioeconomic context, by placing them in new situations that require initiative, responsibility, and cooperation. - Developing linguistic, social, and intercultural skills through the use of English as a common language, daily interaction with their Romanian peers, and group activities that promote dialogue and tolerance. - Promoting inclusion and diversity by involving young people from disadvantaged or marginalized backgrounds and promoting gender diversity in sports tournaments and workshops. - Encouraging civic engagement and European citizenship by helping young people understand that they are part of a larger community, the European Union, and that they can actively contribute to it. - Raising awareness of sustainable practices and environmental resilience by incorporating workshops on environmental protection and organizing eco-friendly events to link local issues in Mayotte to global concerns shared by Europe. Using soccer as a universal language, the project employs non-formal learning methods (role-playing, talking circles, intercultural workshops) to encourage active participation and the acquisition of transferable skills. Inspired by Tinerii 3D's experience in youth work and Erasmus+ projects, it will enable young people in Mayotte to access new opportunities, break down geographical isolation, and become agents of change in their communities.
