The main objective of this stay is to allow young people far from mobility to go on a European stay, as part of an educational and cultural project promoting autonomy and emancipation. By involving young people at all stages of the organization, it is a question of giving them an active place in the construction of the stay, to value their skills and to allow them to live an emancipatory positive experience, bringing openness to otherness and cultural diversity as well as discoveries. In this perspective, the organization of the stay is thought with a balance between discovery and the pleasure of being on trip. Before the start, meeting and meeting times are organized in order to involve young people in France and Spain in the elaboration of the project: exchanges on desires, co-construction of certain activities, reflection around the daily organization (allocation of tasks, menu ideas, rules of life). During the stay, regular, daily or every other day, allows young people to get their voices, assess their feelings and adjust the pace or proposals if necessary. The attention paid to the effective participation of young people, to the consideration of their desires and to the adaptation of the requirements to their capacities is a central indicator of the success of this objective. The European stay organized by Escalado in partnership with our Spanish partner, on the sidelines of the twinning framework between Saint-Nazaire and Avilés, offers young people an experience of openness to the world through meeting, cultural discovery and collective life. These European exchanges are a privileged lever for developing values of tolerance, solidarity and emancipation, enshrined in the principles of popular education. In a context and a world where withdrawal makes an important return, this experience seems to us to be essential, even perhaps the foundation of a form of European citizenship for each of the young people of the stay, crossing the borders and promoting the spirit of peace. This is essential in today’s world where this is a little more challenged every day. The media education dimension of the stay through the radio tool that will be offered to young people will also promote the development of critical thinking, essential to openness to the world. Living a time in Spain, meeting young people from Avilés and sharing common activities allows first to get to know the other: his habits, his language, his environment, his references. This positive confrontation with cultural diversity helps participants expand their representations, overcome prejudices and build a finer understanding of the world around them. The intercultural encounter thus becomes a space for citizen learning, rooted in European reality and will therefore be the guiding thread throughout our project. At the same time, the remoteness of the usual living environment of young people and the need to adapt to a new environment strengthen autonomy, self-confidence and the ability to cooperate when accompanied and supported. Young people learn to take initiatives, manage their daily life in groups and to open up to other ways of communicating, especially through the natural and contextualized use of the Spanish language. The structured partnership guarantees a secure framework, a shared organization and a pedagogy based on common values and centered on meeting, interculturality and citizenship. The preparation upstream, the support by the local teams and the co-construction of the activities ensure a coherent stay, welcoming and respectful of the cultures of each. Beyond travel, this trip aims to offer young people an enriching and emancipatory experience, where discovery, cooperation and cultural openness contribute to the training of the curious "European citizens of tomorrow", responsible and aware of their place in a plural Europe.
