Objectives

Through this youth exchange, we aim to implement a powerful educational initiative focused on promoting a healthy lifestyle, using sport and nutrition as catalysts for social inclusion and well-being. This project, taking place in Saint-Leu (Reunion Island) from July 4th to 11th, 2026, in collaboration with our Spanish partner Prodiversa, will offer 24 participants a unique intercultural learning experience. From a youth work perspective, the goal is to empower young people from underprivileged areas to reclaim their "health capital" while strengthening their sense of European belonging. The project’s ambition is to raise participants' awareness of balanced nutrition and regular physical activity, while tackling sedentary lifestyles and social isolation. Using non-formal education methods, the young participants will develop essential transversal skills: self-confidence, initiative, international cooperation, and foreign language communication. This exchange aims to break down social and cultural barriers by creating a space for dialogue where diversity becomes a strength for collective learning. The activities will leverage Reunion Island’s exceptional natural heritage as a playground for practical learning: hiking along coastal trails, adapted sports sessions in the lagoon, and shared cooking workshops highlighting local, seasonal products. These highlights will be complemented by workshops reflecting on European citizenship and intercultural evenings. This holistic approach combines physical effort, cultural discovery, and the exchange of best practices between youth from Reunion Island and Spain. The expected results are manifold: a sustainable improvement in the participants' lifestyle habits, an increased awareness of their role as active European citizens, and the acquisition of the Youthpass certificate to validate their learning outcomes. By promoting both physical and mental health, we hope to turn this mobility into a true stepping stone for the participants' personal and social integration, while strengthening cooperation between our two territories around the values of solidarity and well-being championed by the Erasmus+ program.
