The Island for Change project aims to provide young Europeans with a space to experiment with concrete and collective ecological practices, thereby strengthening their capacity to take action for the environment. Through practical activities, participants can see the direct impact of their initiatives, allowing them to develop their civic and ecological engagement. Beyond environmental aspects, the project emphasises the development of practical and transversal skills through collective action, group life, and intercultural exchange. Active involvement of young people in the activities and daily organisation enables them to take ownership of their learning and to cultivate a sense of engagement and collective responsibility. Island for Change encourages young people to reflect on the connection between environment and well-being and provides concrete tools to support mental health, incorporating moments of individual reflection and sharing of personal experiences. Participation in the project also helps to strengthen their sense of belonging to an engaged community and promotes democratic participation. Participants are involved in collective decision-making and the organization of activities, fostering their engagement and accountability while developing critical thinking and civic awareness. Finally, the project integrates a strong dimension of inclusion, ensuring that young people with fewer opportunities can access a meaningful and formative international experience. The project is designed following a non-formal education approach, promoting learning by doing, active engagement, and participation in community life, allowing each participant to develop personal, social, and intercultural skills within a safe and stimulating environment.
