Objectives

The Inclusive Youth Makers 2026 project, initiated by the association Youth RUN, aims to strengthen the quality of youth work in La Réunion by developing the professional skills of youth workers involved in supporting young people. In a context marked by a low number of Erasmus+ Youth projects submitted and by limited mastery of European programmes among local stakeholders (youth associations, local authorities, and integration structures), the project seeks to respond to a concrete need for the professionalisation of youth work practices. This gap currently limits the ability of organisations to offer young people opportunities for mobility, participation and engagement at the European level, and contributes to a feeling of distance from Europe. From a youth work practice perspective, the project aims to create a collective space for learning and cooperation, enabling participants to better understand the Erasmus+ Youth programmes, to appropriate their pedagogical approaches, and to use them as tools in support of local development, inclusion and youth participation. The objectives of the project are as follows: – to strengthen the competences of youth workers in the design, implementation and evaluation of high-quality European projects; – to improve professional practices by integrating non-formal education methods that foster the inclusion and active participation of young people with fewer opportunities; – to develop a territorial dynamic of cooperation between local youth stakeholders and European partners, based on the exchange of practices and peer learning; – to increase both the quality and the frequency of mobility and participation projects initiated from La Réunion; – to consolidate Youth RUN’s capacity to act as a resource organisation, providing long-term support to youth stakeholders in accessing European programmes. Through these objectives, Inclusive Youth Makers 2026 aims to equip youth stakeholders in La Réunion with the competences, tools and methods necessary to strengthen the quality of youth work, promote European mobility, and sustainably embed European citizenship within an insular context.
