With the “Democracy Uncensored!” project, we want to restore young people’s confidence in French Guiana’s democratic life and give them the means to play an active role in it. The goal is to enable fifty young people aged 15 to 30 to better understand how local, national, and European institutions work, to develop their civic skills, and to feel legitimate in speaking out in the public sphere. The project seeks to transform feelings of distance or mistrust toward institutions into positive energy for engagement, by providing young people with concrete tools to participate, debate, create projects, and question their elected representatives. It also aims to highlight the diversity of their backgrounds and to foster a generation of young people capable of putting forward credible proposals for their territory and embedding them in dialogue with decision-makers.
