Objectives

The project aims to help the youth from Mayotte to overcome the different obstacles they face to access to mobility projects and to offer them to experience Europe. The youth from the island are facing economic, cultural and geographic barriers that limit their opportunities to travel inside and outside the island. The project aims to enhance their autonomy and have them discover Europe while including everyone and fighting against prejudices. The positive results from the last projects led us to open the projects to more and more people. The participants are from the island, many from economically challenged background. Many of them have never left the island and live under the poverty line. The others are studying outside of the island, in mainland France or Reunion island, for university as the one in Mayotte is too small. Our organization involve the youth in the project by having them design them from scratch. This project also includes groups with people with disabilities, a first for us. The project will enhance and develop new skills during and after the mobility. The participants will develop their financial literacy, their autonomy and their intercultural communication. They are involved in planning the activities and booking trains and lodgings. Many preparatory meetings are organized to help them decide together and express themselves. The participants define the objectives and divide the tasks to achieve their objectives. Individual evaluations are programmed to help them realize the skills they gained or enhanced. The participants are also in charge of our social networks during their mobility. They gain autonomy and learn about budgeting and safety measures. They are encouraged to work in group to know each other better and limit conflicts. They will have English lessons depending on their needs to help them be more independent during their trip. For our organisation, the project is in accordance with our youth strategy. We already conducted two projects successfully and we want to inform more young people in the island. Public restitutions and forums help to make us more visible. We want to be known as experts in Erasmus+ project so we are working on our communication and our skills project after project. We also are keen to working on our environmental impact. Coming from an island we rely on airplanes to get to Europe. Planes are not green transportation at all, so we want to compensate by planting trees on the island and in our trips but also using as many green transport while in Europe as possible. We search for partners in the countries we visit to make it possible. We also use personalized tumblers to bring with us and limit our plastic waste.
