Objectives

Ink & Impact is a 7-day Youth Exchange designed to empower young people (15-18) to rediscover writing not as a boring academic requirement, but as a versatile tool for personal growth, career success, and creative freedom. The participants are all from vocational schools, where schooling focus is primarily on practical skills, i.e. doing things with your hands. This project will empower them to complement their vocational skills with literacy skills, like how to present yourself well in CV and motivational letters. Also, many participants work in areas with a lot of self-employment - technicians, beauticians etc. To improve their self-run businesses, they need digital skills, which this project will enable them to further develop. Furthermore, participants want to implement this project because in an era dominated by short-form digital consumption, they want to revive "deep literacy" through non-formal education, through which they can improve different aspects of their life - from emotional to professional. The partners, which are all vocational high schools, will support young people because teachers notice continual decline in their pupils ability to write proficiently. Also, partners want to use this project to learn from other schools and improve their supportive work for their students, including providing them with necessary skills to thrive in the modern world (like improved employability and ability to maintain your mental health. Thus, this project responds to the basic needs of both the participants and partner organizations. The goal of the project is to explore the impact of writing on three areas: 1. Mental Health & Self-Awareness - The participants will focus on journaling as a fundamental tool for mental hygiene. Modern youth face unprecedented levels of anxiety and digital noise. We will introduce writing as a "safe laboratory" for the mind in reflective practice, emotional compass and self-reflection. 2. Employability & Professional Branding - The participants will improve their employability by improving the strategic self-presentation and digital narrative skills. 3. Imagination & World-Building - The participants will explore the transformative power of the imagination. Inspired by the legendary works of J.R.R. Tolkien (Lord of the Rings) and J.K. Rowling (Harry Potter), we will dive into the mechanics of world-building. The project respond to the following needs: 1. improved employability of young people from vocational schools 2. improved ability of young people to take care of their mental health 3. improved ability of schools to provide quality education focusing on employability and mental health of young people.
