The MIND Power (Mental Health, Inclusion, Development, Well-being) project aims to empower young people, especially those with fewer opportunities, to develop the knowledge, skills and attitudes needed to take care of their mental well-being, support their peers and actively participate in their communities. From a youth work practice perspective, the project responds to the real needs of young people growing up in environments with limited access to quality non-formal learning opportunities, psychosocial support and international mobility. Through an international Youth Exchange, the project seeks to create a safe, inclusive and supportive space where young people can openly discuss the challenges they face, learn from one another and strengthen their emotional resilience, communication skills and self-confidence. A strong emphasis is placed on peer learning, active participation of young people in all phases of the project and linking personal development with concrete action at local level. The objectives of the project include raising young people’s awareness of mental health and available support services, reducing stigma related to talking about mental health difficulties, strengthening social and emotional competences, and empowering young people to plan and implement local follow-up initiatives after the exchange. At the same time, the project contributes to strengthening the capacities of partner organisations for quality, inclusive and participatory youth work in line with the Erasmus+ Youth Quality Standards. The project objectives were defined on the basis of two separate needs assessments – one conducted with partner organisations and one involving 71 young people – which clearly identified stress, communication barriers, stigma and limited access to support as key challenges, but also highlighted young people’s strong motivation to participate in mental health programmes.
