The YOCORE project aims to strengthen the professional capacity of youth workers to support young people’s emotional wellbeing, resilience, and social inclusion through high-quality non-formal education practices. The project responds to the limited access to structured professional development opportunities in rural and under-resourced communities, where youth workers often operate without adequate methodological support, training tools, and peer networks. Through an international training course and structured follow-up activities, YOCORE seeks to improve participants’ competences in emotional literacy, reflective practice, inclusive facilitation, and psychosocial support in youth work settings. A central objective is to equip youth workers with practical, evidence-informed tools that can be directly applied in daily work with young people. The development and testing of the YOCORE Compass Book and Toolbox will provide concrete methodologies for addressing emotional regulation, stress, communication, and personal development in diverse youth contexts. From the perspective of youth work practice, the project aims to enhance the quality, consistency, and professional recognition of youth work by promoting learner-centred, participatory, and trauma-sensitive approaches. YOCORE also aims to strengthen cooperation among youth organisations from different European regions, enabling mutual learning, exchange of good practices, and joint innovation in youth work methodologies. By developing trained multipliers and embedding project results into partner organisations’ regular programmes, the project contributes to long-term improvement of youth work practice at local, national and European levels. Ultimately, YOCORE seeks to empower youth workers to create safer, more supportive and emotionally responsive environments for young people, fostering their personal growth, social participation, and wellbeing.
