Objectives

By implementing this project, Frendofon aims to strengthen the quality of its youth work with children and young people with disabilities and other young people with fewer opportunities by transferring and adapting proven approaches from AMICA. The overall purpose is to improve everyday practice and enable our beneficiaries to achieve a higher level of participation, empowerment and preparation for a more independent life, while reinforcing family support and links with the local community. The project objectives from a youth work practice perspective are: To strengthen the competences of staff and volunteers in inclusion, intercultural learning and youth work with young people with fewer opportunities, with a focus on better structuring of activities (adaptations, visual support and activities broken down into clear “micro-steps”), and on approaches that foster autonomy and meaningful participation. To develop and upgrade inclusive activities for Frendofon beneficiaries by improving existing “household” and gardening workshops and embedding them into a broader programme for independent living skills. In addition, we will introduce new activities such as self-care workshops and work simulations (e.g. “shop”, “bakery”, “garden”) that help young people practise daily living skills and basic work habits in a safe, supportive and developmentally appropriate setting. Although our beneficiaries are not yet ready for independent employment, these activities will support their long-term autonomy and preparation for the future. To improve the transition from education to adulthood by implementing practical, structured activities that strengthen independence, responsibility and active participation in the community, with stronger involvement of families and a clearer support pathway around the young person. To increase the international dimension of Frendofon’s work through cooperation with AMICA and the exchange of good practices, strengthening organisational capacity and opening opportunities for future partnerships and projects. To promote an inclusive culture in the local community through at least one public-facing activity (e.g. an Inclusive Day / family info-day, and where relevant peer support), raising awareness and acceptance of diversity and improving cooperation among local stakeholders. To ensure lasting impact beyond the mobility, learning will be transferred to the wider team and volunteers through internal knowledge sharing, supported by short procedures/checklists, piloting of new activities, and a simple online resource space hosted within existing channels (no separate e-learning platform). In this way, the project will lead to sustainable improvements in Frendofon’s youth work practice and to tangible benefits for young people, families and the wider community.
