Objectives

The "Natural Beauties" project aims to empower young people by deepening their understanding of climate change and equipping them with the tools and skills needed to take concrete action in their local communities. The project is designed to bridge the gap between awareness and action by combining knowledge-sharing with hands-on environmental engagement. Through non-formal and experiential learning, participants will not only gain theoretical insights into climate issues but also develop practical competencies that will enable them to become active changemakers in their societies. The project is rooted in youth work practices that emphasize peer-to-peer learning, intercultural collaboration and real-world problem- solving. One of the core objectives is to help participants recognize their role in combating climate change and to inspire them to adopt sustainable lifestyles. Many young people today are aware of environmental challenges but often lack clear guidance on how to translate their concerns into meaningful action. This project provides a structured framework where participants can explore sustainable practices in an interactive and supportive environment. They will engage in activities such as guided nature explorations, community clean-up events and sustainability workshops where they will be introduced to simple yet impactful behavioral changes, such as reducing waste, minimizing their carbon footprint, and advocating for green policies in their communities. To achieve these objectives, the project integrates a variety of hands-on activities that ensure deep learning and active participation. For example, during the "Green Exploration" activity, participants will embark on an outdoor learning experience, where they will analyze the biodiversity of a natural area, identify environmental threats and discuss local conservation strategies. This experiential approach helps them understand ecological interdependencies firsthand and supports a sense of responsibility for nature conservation. Another key activity is the "Waste collection/recycling" where participants will visit a public space affected by pollution and collectively work on restoring its natural state by cleaning up litter. They will demonstrate the potential of recycling in an engaging and hands-on manner. Workshops on sustainable living will also be a fundamental part of the project. Sessions will cover topics such as zero-waste lifestyles, energy conservation and ethical consumption. Through discussions and interactive demonstrations, participants will learn how small changes - such as reducing single-use plastics, making informed food choices and opting for eco- friendly transportation - can collectively have a significant impact on the environment. They will also have opportunities to share their own experiences and brainstorm solutions tailored to their local contexts. Another key element of the project is nurturing youth empowerment through collaboration. Many young people feel disconnected from environmental decision-making processes, but this project seeks to change that by providing them with leadership opportunities. Throughout the exchange, participants will be encouraged to take ownership of specific activities, facilitating discussions, leading group exercises and even co-designing awareness campaigns. For instance, the "Creative Expression" session will challenge participants to create short, persuasive messages that can be shared on social media to raise awareness about climate issues. These campaigns will be published on project partners’ social media channels, extending the project’s reach beyond the immediate participants. Cultural exchange and teamwork are also integral to the project’s success. By bringing together young people from diverse backgrounds, the initiative creates cross-cultural understanding and cooperation. This will be achieved through activities like "Policy Proposal," where participants will share insights into how environmental sustainability is approached in their home countries, exchange best practices and explore ways to integrate global and local perspectives into their own sustainability efforts. By doing so, they not only expand their knowledge but also build a sense of solidarity and shared responsibility for the planet. To ensure the long-term impact of the project, a structured follow-up strategy will be implemented. Each participant will be encouraged to develop a personal action plan outlining concrete steps they will take upon returning home. They will also be tasked with organizing at least one local event, such as a community clean-up, an awareness workshop or a presentation at a school or youth center, to share their newly acquired knowledge and experiences. This approach reinforces the principle of knowledge multiplication.
