The goal of the AIMS – Artificial Intelligence in Modern Youth Services project is to strengthen the digital skills and artificial intelligence (AI) skills of youth workers, thereby reducing the digital gap between young people and the youth workers who support them It is contributing to the development of a modern, conscious youth work that reflects the real needs of young people. The project is based on the practical grass-root experience that a significant proportion of youth workers dealing with the youth are uncertain about how to use the quickly developing digital and AI-based tools, while young people's everyday lives are already largely based on them. The rapid development of AI-based technologies poses a significant challenge for youth workers. The gap between young people and youth workers makes it difficult to establish authentic connections, develop a common language, and fulfill the supportive and accompanying role of youth work. The primary goal of the project is to encourage youth workers not to treat AI as a threat or solely as a technological issue, but to consciously and ethically integrate it into their everyday professional practice in a way that is tailored to the needs of young people. One of the basic principles of youth work is to connect with the reality of young people, but this becomes increasingly difficult when youth workers are uncertain about the digital environment, especially when it comes to understanding how AI works. The project therefore aims to ensure that youth workers not only acquire technical knowledge, but are also able to interpret the social, ethical, and psychological impacts of AI. From a youth work perspective, a key objective is to better understand young people's digital habits and their relationship with AI, as well as to recognize how AI affects young people's identity, mental health, information processing, and decision-making. The project supports youth workers in reflecting on these impacts and accompanying young people in the digital space not only as users but also as conscious decision-makers, cooperating with them in the common use of tools. During the mobility, we provide a set of tools that develop the digital competencies of youth workers, with a special focus on AI as a modern and dynamically changing tool. In the long term, the project aims to strengthen modern, digitally equipped youth services and to establish an international community of practice capable of sharing best practices, responding jointly to developments in AI, and contributing to improving the quality, relevance, and social recognition of youth work. Thanks to the effective use of AI, the organizational capacity of youth organizations and youth centres is also significantly improved, so the project focuses on the development of digital youth work in a practical, experience-based approach that interprets and understands the styles and methods of young people. The AIMS project directly contributes to the Erasmus+ program's youth field priority of quality learning by providing non-formal learning opportunities for youth workers and contributes to the empowerment of youth workers by developing their digital skills and connecting youth workers.
