In line with youth work values, we want this project to encourage inclusion and equality by providing this opportunity to travel. Travel is a powerful learning tool for young people across Europe and we want to ensure that young people from Inchicore get that same opportunity to travel, develop their confidence and open them up to the world around them We want to be able to continue to level the playing field for young people from disadvantaged areas and use this project as an example for other young people from Inchicore to get involved in DiscoverEU and other Erasmus+ projects. Youth work practice aims for projects to be youth led and is based on the goals of empowering young people, encouraging active participation and implementing non formal education. We want this project to achieve these goals by providing the young people with the opportunity to actively participate in the overall process and feel empowered through practicing decision making, critical thinking and independence through a non-formal approach to learning. We want the young people to complete this project with a renewed sense of confidence, achievement and knowledge which will support them into their future, broadening their horizons and becoming open to more opportunities. At the forefront of our work as a youth service lies social justice and this project has a specific focus on anti-racism. We want this project to provide young people with an awareness of other cultures and to widen their understanding of racism. We want this project to empower young people from Inchicore to challenge racist stereotypes and to teach them how to be a supportive ally to their peers.
