Objectives

With the project From Tuscany to Europe, we aim to offer five young people with fewer opportunities from Siena and its surrounding area their first structured experience of European mobility within a safe and educationally supported environment. From a youth work perspective, the objective is to reduce the social and economic barriers that limit access to international opportunities and to show that mobility can be inclusive and truly accessible. The main objective is to strengthen participants’ autonomy, self-confidence and sense of belonging to the European Union through a guided DiscoverEU experience. During the journey, they will visit key institutions such as the European Parliament and the European Commission in Brussels, the Court of Justice of the European Union in Luxembourg, and the UNESCO site in Paris. Direct contact with these places will help participants better understand how democratic mechanisms function, how human rights are protected and what opportunities exist for young people in Europe. This aspect is especially relevant for young people who often perceive the EU as distant or inaccessible and who are not familiar with the programmes designed for them. From a youth work practice perspective, through non-formal education methods, daily reflection and active involvement in decision-making, we aim to support the development of competences such as intercultural communication, teamwork, autonomy, problem solving, communication in foreign languages, self-confidence and civic awareness. At the same time, participants will be supported in recognising and valuing the learning outcomes they achieve. The travel experience becomes an educational space that complements formal learning and responds to the specific needs of young people coming from rural contexts or with limited resources and little previous mobility experience
