Objectives

Young people from Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia and Poland have developed the project “Equal Vibes - Breaking norms, Building Respect”, a Youth Exchange aimed at exploring gender equality, strengthening interpersonal skills and empowering young people to contribute to more inclusive communities. The project was created in response to the persistent presence of gender inequality in daily life. Even with social progress, young people continue to encounter gender stereotypes, social expectations and unequal behaviours in school, work, friendships, digital spaces and public life, but they often don’t stop to reflect on why this gap is still present or why gender equality is essential for a fair and inclusive society. They need space to understand their causes, reflect on their impact or learn the skills needed to challenge them constructively. The aim of “Equal Vibes” is to raise young people’s awareness of gender equality, deepen their understanding of the factors that sustain gender inequality, and equip them with the skills and tools to actively contribute to building a fairer, more inclusive and equal society. The project’s objectives are to: By the end of the Youth Exchange: (1) At least 80% participants will improve their understanding of key concepts (gender, stereotypes, discrimination, equality) and will be able to name at least 3 factors that sustain gender inequality, measured through a pre/post questionnaire. (2) Participants will be able to recognise gender bias in everyday life by analysing at least 2 real-life scenarios (school, work, friendships, public spaces or online), checked through group tasks and reflection outputs. (3) At least 70% participants will develop and strengthen practical tools to respond constructively to inequality, by working on respectful communication, emotional awareness, boundary-setting and non-violent communication. These will be measured through self-assessment and facilitator observation, and with final Youthpass self evaluation. (4) Encourage active citizenship and participation. At least 4 youth-led outputs will be co-created by participants (e.g., posters/videos/campaign ideas and a short Equality Toolkit) that can be used by partner organisations for dissemination and local follow-up. (5) Promote intercultural learning by bringing together young people from different countries, so that participants will learn about new cultures, exchange experiences and good practices, and practise a foreign language through daily cooperation in mixed-nationality teams and intercultural activities. Through non-formal education, the project will empower young people to reflect critically, communicate more consciously and become active contributors to shaping a more equal future.
