Objectives

EUth Engage aims to empower young people to become more active, confident and responsible participants in their communities by strengthening youth participation, democratic engagement and active citizenship through a youth exchange based on peer learning and intercultural dialogue. The project is designed as a continuation of youth work processes initiated during the previous Youth Exchange EUth Connect responding to the need to move from reflection on values towards youth led action. In everyday youth work organisations and youth workers observe that significant part of young people feel distant from decision making processes, not wanting to participate in youth led actions and unsure about their role in society. This feeling is often stronger among young people facing economic, geographical or social barriers who may have fewer opportunities to participate in civic or community life. From a youth work perspective this is not a lack of knowledge but a lack of confidence and experience to engage meaningfully. The project aims to address this need by creating a safe, inclusive and participatory environment where young people can exchange experiences, reflect on their realities and explore their potential to contribute. One of the main objectives of EUth Engage is to strengthen young people competences related to participation, cooperation, communication, critical thinking and initiative taking. Through non formal education methods and peer to peer exchange participants will learn from each other experiences rather than from expert instruction. The youth exchange brings together young people from Lithuania, Georgia, Czechia, Italy, Turkiye, Armenia and Ukraine representing EU, candidate, Eastern Partnership and conflict affected contexts. This diversity supports mutual learning, empathy and a deeper understanding of how democratic values and youth participation are experienced in different social and political environments. Another key objective is to support young people in transforming shared values into practical action. From a youth work practice point of view learning becomes meaningful when young people can connect it to their own lives and communities. During the exchange participants are encouraged to identify challenges they face locally and to co-create ideas for youth led followup activities. These actions allow young people to test their ideas in practice strengthen their sense of responsibility and experience themselves as active contributors and not passive observers. Project also aims to promote inclusive youth work approaches by actively involving young people with fewer opportunities. Targeted outreach, individual preparation and continuous support allow these young people to participate on equal footing and to experience international youth work as accessible and relevant. Inclusion is understood as meaningful participation throughout all phases of the project, including decision making, learning and followup. From an organisational and youth work perspective EUth Engage also contributes to strengthening the quality of youth work practice. Partner organisations develop their capacity to work participatively, support youth led initiatives and cooperate internationally. The project promotes long term cooperation between organisations and supports the integration of learning outcomes into regular youth work activities. Overall EUth Engage aims to create lasting impact by supporting young people in developing confidence, motivation and practical competences to engage actively in their communities. By combining intercultural exchange, peer learning, reflection and youth led action the project contributes to stronger youth participation as well as more inclusive youth work practice and sustained engagement beyond the duration of the Youth Exchange.
