Objectives

The project aims to address a growing barrier to youth participation identified through previous exchanges and local consultations: young people are not disengaged because they lack interest, but because emotional overload, digital pressure and societal uncertainty reduce their sense of agency. From a youth work perspective, the project seeks to strengthen the internal capacities that enable meaningful participation. Rather than focusing on political content, the project addresses the psychosocial foundations of engagement: emotional resilience, self-efficacy, critical thinking and constructive self-expression. The overall objective is to strengthen young people’s resilience and civic agency through structured intercultural non-formal learning. Specific objectives are: 1. To increase young people’s awareness of how digital environments, social comparison culture, misinformation and political narratives influence their emotions, confidence and participation. 2. To strengthen emotional regulation and healthy coping strategies that support long-term engagement rather than burnout. 3. To improve media literacy and critical thinking competences in line with the DigComp framework. 4. To develop communication, dialogue and structured argumentation skills necessary for democratic participation. 5. To empower participants to translate personal reflection into concrete civic proposals addressed to local stakeholders. 6. To strengthen inclusive youth work practice by actively engaging young people with fewer opportunities and adapting methods to diverse needs. 7. To reinforce intercultural understanding and European belonging through shared reflection on common challenges across countries. In youth work practice, this project contributes to the “Empower” dimension of the EU Youth Strategy by equipping young people with competences that make participation sustainable and self-driven rather than externally imposed.
