This project is one of such solutions and its aim is to spark the inertia that affects youth in two fronts: 1. Low level of youth entrepreneurship activities 2. Low level of access to video game development field of digital education After having these extensive discussions with the young participants, we contacted the partners that participated in our project: Romania, Slovakia and Estonia. They confirmed that they suffer from the same concerns about lacking video game development skills and competences as well as entrepreneurship competences in their communities and they would gladly join the project on the topic of video game development as a way to fight youth unemployment without hesitation. Identification of the problem The levels of Youth unemployment in European Union in general have been increasing in the last couple of years, according to the statistics of 2025 by OECD it remains at unacceptable numbers of 15,2%. In Lithuania, the national situation is above average with 14,7% but the situation is not generalized to every region in the country and it is higher in the Sudovia region where the association activates. The same happens in the small communities where our partners activate. The level of youth unemployment in Slovakia 16,4%, in Estonia was 17,3%, Romania even 26,9,3%. These numbers are above the EU average and send an alarming signal. Adding to this in all the 4 communities, there is a significantly low level of entrepreneurial activity, with young people not willing to take risks in creating their own opportunities. Video games are extremely popular in between young people of various ages, from junior to late teen, and is experiencing increase in popularity between adults, including not only young adults, but ones of more mature age. Video games do not recognize the gender or nationality or ethnicity of the player and are inclusive for in all the players equally without any barriers to play it. The recent generations can even be called “video game generations” as it became increasingly popular in the recent decade. Not only playing the game itself is vastly popular, but also watching others play online as well. Entrepreneurship in the field of video game development in this digital age is of crucial importance as it open up a wide field for the young people to be connected and present. Video games development is becoming more and more attainable for the implementation of ordinary people by providing easy access applications such as UnrealEngine and Blender, that are widely used in the industry. Video game development can be performed remotely from any computer devices and performed even on our mobile phones and it may serve as an enormous enhancer of youth employment in the digital field; we can even now take further steps to make video games development to drive the generated ideas to real products generating value. All the mentioned means lowers the rate of youth unemployment. The young people from all the 4 partner communities don’t have easy access to the necessary environments where they can explore and learn more about this topic and so, this project aims to provide that. Goal The goal of this project is to introduce or develop young participants’ skills in video game development and boost their active engagement in entrepreneurial activities. The project foresees one mobility: a youth exchange to take place in Lithuania. The youth exchange will involve 40 young participants from 4 countries: Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Estonia including 16 participants who are facing fewer opportunities and also 8 group leaders and 2 experts in the topic as facilitators and 1 staff member. Objectives By the end of the project we will reach the following objectives: Objective1. Introduce 40 participants from Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Estonia to all stages of video game development. Objective2. Increase the confidence of 40 participants from Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Estonia to engage in entrepreneurial activities using video game development. Objective3. Raise the awareness of 40 participants, from Lithuania, Romania, Slovakia and Estonia to entrepreneurial activities they can engage in by having video game development skills and how to implement them towards the positive change in the communities. The objectives of the youth exchange directly contribute to the Erasmus+ program objectives and priorities.
