By implementing this project, we aim to empower 18–19-year-old young people living in rural areas and having fewer opportunities to prepare in a meaningful and structured way for an independent stage of life. From a youth work perspective, our main goal is to develop young people’s personal, social and life skills through real-life experiences, non-formal and informal learning, and regular reflection. Through the project, we seek to strengthen young people’s independence and sense of responsibility by giving them opportunities to plan, make decisions, take responsibility for their choices and learn from experience – from travel preparation to reflection after the journey. This will help them build self-confidence, make more courageous decisions and feel better prepared for independent life after school. We also aim to develop practical travel and life skills, such as budget planning, time management, route planning, assessing personal limits and finding a balance between activity and rest. These skills are especially important for young people who have little or no prior travel experience and who plan to study or live in other cities or countries in the future. A strong focus is placed on improving communication and teamwork skills. During the project, young people will learn to express their needs and feelings more clearly, listen to others, accept different viewpoints and seek solutions together. The project also aims to broaden young people’s worldview and intercultural understanding by offering opportunities to explore other European countries, cultures and people, interact with local communities and experience Europe’s diversity in practice. Finally, we seek to strengthen young people’s emotional well-being by providing space to relax, reduce stress and anxiety, and try out practical self-regulation and calming techniques. We believe that a safe, supportive and experiential environment will help young people better understand themselves, listen to their inner needs and plan their future with greater confidence. In the long term, we aim for this project to become a foundation for self-confidence and active citizenship, enabling young people to initiate their own ideas, participate in projects and become active members of their communities. Project objectives: 1. To provide young people from rural areas and with fewer opportunities the chance to travel abroad and explore European countries and cultures. 2. To develop young people’s personal competences, including independence, responsibility, travel planning, teamwork and communication skills, by actively involving them in shared decision-making and responsibility throughout the project. 3. To help young people better recognise and manage stress and anxiety through practical relaxation, self-reflection and mindfulness methods. 4. To encourage young people’s active participation and self-confidence through experiences that support them in making future decisions more courageously and taking initiative.
