The “Wide World” focuses on young people living in rural areas and small towns, addressing their needs for self-expression, strengthening leadership skills, and consolidating knowledge of participation. “Wide World” symbolizes the idea that the world is vast and one can get lost without a safe home, an inclusive society, and a community that they can consider their own—a place to return to and feel a sense of belonging. However, it is not a specific place, like Kurmene; it represents the community of each young person. The project brings together like-minded organizations from across Europe to highlight this topic and collectively help activate and strengthen communities. The project’s themes are leadership and civic participation, which will be integrated through various non-formal learning methods and the creation of a community event. The community evening, which will be the culmination of the youth exchange, will focus on leadership, personal growth, and civic engagement. The project aims to help young people become more self-confident, particularly in public speaking and expressing their opinions. It develops leadership and teamwork skills, while also strengthening young people’s understanding of civic participation, democracy, and the importance of community building. The project promotes active citizenship, volunteering, and engagement in local communities, and reduces the social isolation of rural youth by creating meaningful international and local connections. Participants will gain practical tools for managing stress, overcoming fears, and stepping out of their comfort zones. The project fosters intercultural learning, mutual respect, and understanding of European values. Additionally, it helps partner organizations develop sustainable youth work practices by creating reusable materials, tools, and educational approaches.
