Objectives

“Wild & Wired” aims to empower young people to build a healthier relationship with technology while reconnecting with nature through experiential, youth-led non-formal education. From a youth work perspective, the project addresses a concrete and growing challenge: excessive passive screen use combined with limited outdoor engagement and reduced environmental connection. The project seeks to transform digital tools from sources of distraction into instruments for creativity, learning, and active citizenship. It responds directly to needs expressed by young people from Latvia, Poland, and Italy, who identified difficulties in maintaining digital balance, limited opportunities for meaningful outdoor engagement, and a desire to co-create international initiatives rather than passively participate. The objectives are: To promote mindful and healthy digital habits by increasing awareness of digital well-being, screen-time impact, and conscious technology use. To reconnect young people with nature through experiential outdoor learning in Pollino National Park, fostering environmental responsibility and well-being. To enhance digital and creative competences by teaching participants to use digital tools (photography, video, storytelling, GPS, citizen science apps) for environmental awareness and social engagement. To strengthen intercultural communication and teamwork skills through collaborative, international group work. To empower participants to act as multipliers and youth-led change-makers by designing and implementing local follow-up actions. To integrate digital transformation and environmental sustainability within youth work practice, building a model that combines outdoor education and creative technology use. The project is rooted in non-formal education principles: experiential learning, peer facilitation, reflection circles, digital detox experiments, creative workshops, and participatory project design. Participants are co-creators of learning, contributing to workshops, group facilitation, and final outputs, including digital campaigns and an updated “Wildly Digital Toolkit 2.0.” By combining digital awareness with outdoor immersion, the project strengthens youth work methodologies that are holistic, participatory, and aligned with Erasmus+ priorities of digital transformation, environmental sustainability, inclusion, and youth participation in democratic life.
