The main goal of the project “Speak Up!” is to empower 27 young people from Latvia, Romania, and Poland to develop confidence, clarity, and authenticity in public speaking, enabling them to express their ideas freely and participate more actively in educational, social, and civic life. From a youth work perspective, the project responds to a clearly identified need: many young people experience anxiety, fear of judgment, and low self-confidence when speaking in front of others. These emotional barriers limit their participation in youth initiatives, democratic processes, and community engagement. Through non-formal education methods, the project creates a safe, inclusive, and supportive international learning environment where participants can gradually build communication skills and emotional resilience. Specific objectives: O1: Improve participants’ public speaking confidence and spontaneous communication skills by at least 50%, measured through pre- and post-project self-assessments, peer feedback, and reflection sessions. O2: Equip participants with practical anxiety-management techniques (such as breathing, grounding, and body awareness) and support them in applying these tools during speaking activities. O3: Strengthen active participation and long-term impact by engaging participants in a final debate activity and guiding each national group to organise at least one local follow-up event, reaching a minimum of 120 young people in total. Through experiential learning, reflection, Youthpass-based competence recognition, and intercultural exchange, the project strengthens key competences such as personal and social competence, citizenship, cultural awareness, and learning to learn. Ultimately, it supports young people in overcoming emotional barriers and becoming more confident, active, and engaged members of their communities.
