Digital skills and competencesMedia literacy and tackling disinformation

Objectives

Through this project, we want to achieve greater public awareness of disinformation, deception and fake news, which has historically been a significant problem, but now, with the development of various artificial intelligence tools, the level of disinformation has reached new heights thanks to the technical capabilities of artificial intelligence. We want to draw attention to the negative impact of fake news, disinformation and deception and we want to draw attention to the need to counter fake news and refute disinformation. We believe that it is important to educate young people about fact-checking and refuting disinformation, and youth work is a good way to promote young people's digital skills to counter disinformation, thus improving their media literacy and critical thinking. The idea of the project is to educate youth workers about fake news, disinformation, deception, and to provide youth workers with essential knowledge of artificial intelligence and appropriate skills to use various artificial intelligence tools for fact-checking and source verification, in order to be able to counter disinformation and refute fake news, in order to improve youth work and its role in educating young people about fact-checking. The main need we want to address with this project is the integration of disinformation countermeasures with artificial intelligence tools into youth work in order to educate young people about the importance of combating disinformation, promote their media literacy, responsible use of artificial intelligence tools and the digital transformation of youth work. The project aims to promote countering disinformation through youth work by educating youth workers on the use of artificial intelligence tools with a non-formal learning approach. To achieve this goal, we have set the following tasks: 1. to raise awareness of the use, importance, risks and opportunities of artificial intelligence, 2. to educate youth workers about fake news, disinformation, fact-checking and artificial intelligence, 3. to exchange experiences of project member states with disinformation and countering disinformation within youth work, 4. to educate youth workers about artificial intelligence tools for countering disinformation, 5. to create a youth work handbook on the use of artificial intelligence tools for countering disinformation, 6. to promote the recognition of the Erasmus+ programme, non-formal learning, the Youthpass certificate and the 9 YOCOMO competence model. From a youth work perspective, the project will contribute to the increase in the quality of youth work, as the project results will be useful as aids for the integration of artificial intelligence tools in youth work, which will contribute to its transformation and digitalisation. This handbook will be a useful tool, providing information on how to use these tools and how to integrate this type of non-formal education into youth work, implementing activities to combat disinformation and use artificial intelligence tools. The implementation of the project will contribute to the development of youth work at the local level, with partner organisations benefiting from the learning outcomes and improved capacities of youth workers, which will initially be applied in the partner organisations and, thanks to the exchange of good practices and transfer of experience, will be transferred elsewhere, thus contributing to the further development of youth work. We expect that the project will contribute to the further digitalisation of youth work and the wider use of digital and artificial intelligence tools, which, in turn, will contribute to the introduction of innovations in youth work. During the project, youth workers will improve their digital skills and be better prepared to participate in the digitalisation of youth work.
