Stepping Out intends to support the physical mobility of learners stepping out of Aruba and opening their minds to possible future opportunities that don't involve crime. we will focus on the objectives of: Creating equity of Opportunity for incarcerated learners on release from KIA - compared to their peers without criminal history Raising participation of disadvantaged learners - creating opportunities for 10 learners Internationalising our learning offer - adding benefit to our organisation
We work with adult learners aged 18 - 80 years in a correctional facility of Aruba & Sint Maarten. Detainees in prison engage in our non-formal learning programmes, signing up for 6-10 week and intensive courses in different thematic areas. Detainees are joining multiple courses we offer and have signed up to consecutive programmes, to engage with us during the full term of their sentence. We would like to offer opportunities for 10 ex-detainees to continue their learning journey after release.
