Objectives

Across Europe, youth work is increasingly challenged to respond to environmental issues, low youth engagement with sustainability topics, and the need for experiential and participatory learning approaches. Learning from Nature, Acting for the Planet aims to strengthen the quality of youth work by equipping youth workers with innovative, experience-based methodologies that use Outdoor Education as a tool for environmental learning, participation, and responsible action. The project supports the professional development of youth workers by encouraging them to step outside traditional educational settings and explore how learning in nature can help young people better understand ecological consequences, responsibility, and active citizenship. Through international exchange and non-formal education, the project contributes to improving the quality, relevance, and innovation of youth work practices. Many young people today experience environmental issues as abstract or distant, often lacking opportunities to connect environmental topics with real-life experience and action. From a youth work perspective, this project addresses the need for methods that make sustainability tangible, support youth participation, and encourage initiative and responsibility. By using outdoor education and experiential learning, youth workers are trained to create learning processes that link experience, reflection, and action. The project aims to build a community of youth workers who are able to integrate outdoor education into their regular practice, fostering environmental awareness, cooperation, and active engagement among young people. Through shared learning and intercultural exchange, participants will strengthen their role as facilitators of meaningful, action-oriented youth work. Objectives of the project: - Equip youth workers with competences in outdoor education and experiential learning focused on environmental citizenship and youth engagement - Strengthen youth workers’ ability to design and facilitate learning processes that help young people understand ecological impact and responsibility - Develop practical skills in activity planning, safety awareness, first aid basics, and risk management in outdoor youth work - Support the use of creative and digital tools to engage young people and promote environmental action - Foster intercultural learning and cooperation among youth workers in a multicultural European context Increase participants’ understanding of the Erasmus+ Programme as a framework for professional development and innovation in youth work
