Media literacy and tackling disinformationQuality and innovation of youth work

Objectives

The project unites six organisations from partner and program countries to address intolerance by disinformation and fake news - a growing concern among young people in the partner countries. We propose conducting a professional development activity - a training course for youth workers to meet this challenge. This course will equip them with relevant competencies and initiate a comprehensive dissemination campaign following the residential meeting. Recognizing the potential of youth work in preventing the negative impact of misinformation on young minds, empowering youth workers to be discerning media consumers has never been more crucial. By enhancing critical thinking skills and providing tools for youth workers and young people, we aim to significantly contribute to countering falsehoods and reducing instances of hate, misinformation and inappropriate behavior among the youth. The project's primary goal is to prevent youth behavior, specifically intolerance and hatred stemming from disinformation in social media and beyond, by leveraging the efforts of youth work in participating NGOs and countries. Objectives of the mobility: • Enhancing participating 48 youth workers' media literacy and critical thinking competencies; • Address the youth-related issues (discrimination, hate speech and radicalisation) coming from disinformation in the partnering countries; • Explore the digital and offline tools needed to combat disinformation/fake news among young people; • To develop a curriculum for youth workers consist of at least 4 activities, with non-formal and informal learning. • Carry out 6 action plans (1 per partner) to share project outcomes on the grassroots level at their organisations, beneficiaries, and local communities; • Promote the Erasmus+ program intercultural diversity and exchange among the participants and beyond before, during and after the activity.
