Objectives

Our new project is a continuation of the cooperation that was established in 2022, when Norwegian and Georgian young people met in the spring of 2024 as part of the Erasmus+ exchange program. In October 2025, we had a pre-orientation online meeting where we discussed possible cooperation plans for 2026. During autumn period, partners and young participants continued this discussions through online meetings, we identified common challenges which is related to our youth modern lifestyles: dependence on screen and social media use. Many young people in Norway and in Georgia, especially in age 13–17, face social, mental and lifestyle challenges that are linked to gadgets (like smartphones, social media and gaming). Adolescents aged 13–17 in both countries report high levels of screen and social media use, which contributes to sedentary behavior, reduced physical activity and growing concerns related to mental well-being, such as stress, low motivation and social pressure. Despite different socio-economic contexts, young people in both countries face comparable risks of digital overload and reduced connection with nature. These shared trends underline the need for joint, preventive interventions that encourage active lifestyles, reduce prolonged sitting and help young people in both countries develop healthier, more balanced relationships with digital media through engaging, outdoor and non-formal learning experiences. To address these challenges, the project will help young people reconnect with nature through practical outdoor learning and sport-based activities. In Norway, “Friluftsliv” is a well-established concept that promotes spending time in nature for physical, mental and emotional well-being throughout the year. On the contrary, Georgian young people, while often surrounded by natural environments, have less organized outdoor learning opportunities, mainly because of underdeveloped infrastructure and socio-economic problems. Through bilateral exchange, Norwegian and Georgian youngsters will act not only as learners but also as co-creators of solutions, sharing practical outdoor methods that can be transferred back to their local communities. Our project will promote sustainable habits, inclusion, offering young people concrete tools to balance digital, sedentary life with active, meaningful engagement in nature. Our Youth Exchange will take place in Algeti National Park, providing a natural and safe learning environment for practical, nature based education. The programme will combine outdoor, sport, water and forest-based activities using non-formal and experiential learning methods. Project Aim and Objectives: The main objective of the project is to promote the physical and mental well-being of young people by encouraging active lifestyles through outdoor, sport-based and nature-oriented, non-formal learning activities. The specific objectives of the project are: - To promote active lifestyles and reduce sedentary behavior among young people by engaging them in daily outdoor, sport activities. - To explain the main principles of outdoor education and using experience as learning tool with the main focus on outdoor activities; - Through the own experience to increase motivation of participants and their involvement in organizing activities in the nature; - To increase multicultural competences among participants and strengthen relationship between partner organization’s; - To ensure inclusion and equal access to non-formal learning opportunities by creating a safe and supportive environment that enables the participation of young people with fewer opportunities.
