Objectives

The project aims to use youth work through sport as a practical tool to promote social inclusion, learning and active participation among young people with fewer opportunities. From a youth work perspective, the project focuses on creating a safe, non-competitive learning environment where young people can develop competences, confidence and a sense of belonging. A core objective is to increase the participation of marginalised young people, including Roma youth, children without parental care and young people from low-income backgrounds, in high-quality non-formal learning activities at European level. By removing financial, social and cultural barriers, the project ensures equal access and meaningful participation for all participants. Through structured non-formal methods, the project seeks to strengthen key life competences such as intercultural communication, teamwork, conflict management and respectful behaviour. Sport, and especially basketball, is used not as a performance activity but as an educational method that allows young people to practice cooperation, fair play and inclusion in real-life situations. Another key objective is to empower young people as active contributors, not passive participants. Young people are involved in planning, facilitation and reflection, supported by youth workers and coaches. This strengthens youth leadership, peer learning and ownership of the learning process. The project also aims to improve youth work practice within the participating organisations by strengthening the competences of youth workers and volunteers in working with marginalised groups, safeguarding, and recognising learning outcomes through Youthpass. The methods tested during the exchange are intended to be integrated into regular local youth work after the project. Overall, the project aims to support young people in developing skills, attitudes and confidence that enable them to participate more actively in their communities, while strengthening inclusive, high-quality youth work practice across partner organisations.
