Developed by young people from Forandringshuset Drammen and YWCA-YMCA Buskerud; the application was prepared by staff, reflecting the youth group’s input and direction. The aim is to strengthen young people’s participation in local community and democracy by letting young people themselves plan, lead and evaluate two open events for peers. Both combine sport and music with youth-led activities and dialogues on a self-chosen theme (e.g. gender equality, anti-racism, environment). First we run a one-day event as a pilot; lessons learned are carried over to further develop the concept for the second event – a Night Cup, a youth-led two-day evening-and-night event. We expect about 100 participants per event, with special focus on including young people with fewer opportunities. Staff act as facilitators and safety net; decisions are made by the young people.
