The project titled “Stress, FOMO, and Social Media Pressure: How to Understand Who I Am and What I Really Need?” was initiated by young people who, in their everyday lives, experience increasing digital pressure, information overload, social comparisons, and difficulties in managing stress and emotions. It was precisely the young participants — during conversations, preparatory meetings, and previous local activities — who identified FOMO, social media overload, and the lack of tools for mental well-being as some of the most significant challenges facing their generation. The project is a direct response to these identified needs and has been designed from the perspective of practical youth work, based on non-formal education methods, experiential learning, reflection, and active participant involvement. The aim of the project is to create a safe, international space in which young people can gain a deeper understanding of the mechanisms behind stress, FOMO, and online pressure, while at the same time developing concrete, practical strategies for dealing with these phenomena that can be applied in everyday life. The project focuses not only on increasing knowledge but above all on developing practical skills, strengthening self-awareness, sense of agency, and social and emotional competences. The project objectives are closely linked to youth work practice and include: • supporting the development of emotional, social, and communication competences through work in international groups, • building a positive identity, self-esteem, and the ability to appreciate oneself, • acquiring practical tools for managing online and offline pressure (including mindfulness, digital balance, reflection on digital habits), • strengthening mental resilience, well-being, and young people’s sense of agency, • promoting healthy and conscious technology use habits as well as a critical approach to social media, • developing digital and media competences through the creation of participants’ own educational content, • developing intercultural competences, empathy, and collaboration in diverse environments, • counteracting social exclusion and actively including young people with fewer opportunities, • preparing participants to act as multipliers and ambassadors of knowledge in their local communities, • disseminating the project results in a sustainable and useful way for other young people and youth educators. The project addresses key priorities of the Erasmus+ programme, responding to current challenges faced by European youth in the areas of mental health, well-being, inclusion, and digital competences. It assumes the active involvement of young people at every stage - from co-creating content, through reflection and evaluation, to dissemination of results. Thanks to this approach, the project is not a one-off experience but a developmental process that empowers young people, equips them with concrete tools, and prepares them for conscious and responsible functioning in social and digital life.
