As an organization working with youth with disabilities and young people from marginalized backgrounds, we see every day how limited opportunities are for young people to showcase their talents, share their passions, and be heard. Our youth exchange was created precisely to provide a space where every participant can develop their creativity, acquire new skills, and feel that their voice matters. We want young people not only to take part in activities but to be co-creators, from developing the idea for the film, through writing the script, filming, editing, and up to the premiere. The project was initiated by the participants themselves – young people with disabilities, who have shown that they can be leaders, creators, and an inspiration for others. Our role is to provide support so that they can fully develop their potential, overcome barriers, and collaborate with peers from different countries. It is especially important that each participant feels safe and accepted throughout the creative process – there is no place for hate or exclusion in this project. We recognize that in many communities, young people with disabilities or fewer opportunities often feel overlooked, isolated, and undervalued. They lack spaces where they can freely express themselves and build a sense of agency. Through our exchange, we create an environment where participants can develop soft skills such as teamwork, communication, creativity, and self-confidence, while experiencing integration and collaboration in an inclusive, international group. During the project, we place special emphasis on supporting participants with different types of disabilities, adapting methods of work, and providing sign language interpreters and other assistants. This ensures that every participant can actively engage in creating the film and other artistic activities. The feature film becomes not only an artistic tool but also a means of social integration, building self-confidence, and promoting European values – equality, solidarity, and respect for human rights. The screening of the completed film within the local community will allow participants to showcase their achievements to a wider audience, initiate dialogue about diversity and inclusion, and inspire others to take action. Additionally, the project allows young people to see how their creative work can serve as a catalyst for positive social change in their communities, promoting openness, collaboration, and active citizenship. Through this exchange, young people not only gain new skills but also become ambassadors of inclusivity and international cooperation. As people working with them, we witness their growing self-confidence, creativity, and sense of belonging to a supportive community.
