Objectives

The desire to implement the project "Echoes of the Past: Slavic and Baltic Youth Dialogue" stems from our personal observations and a diagnosis of the needs of young people in the Baltic-Slavic region. We have noticed that despite our geographical and historical proximity, our shared regional identity is slowly fading. As young people, we live in a world saturated by global digital culture; while theoretically connected to the entire world, we paradoxically face increasing feelings of isolation, sensory overload, and stress. The inspiration we drew from celebrating the Summer Solstice (Kupala Night) together made us realize that tradition does not have to be a "dead exhibit" locked in dusty books. On the contrary—it can be a vibrant, living tool for integration that addresses contemporary deficits in human closeness. We want to use this discovery to transform digital passivity into real social activity. Our goal is to utilize our common Slavic-Baltic roots as a platform for building bridges of understanding. Instead of focusing on the walls erected by past historical conflicts, we choose a "positive history"—one written in the songs, myths, and rituals that have connected us for centuries. Project Objectives Main Objective. The primary goal of the project is to rebuild a sense of regional community among youth through the collaborative discovery of forgotten Slavic-Baltic heritage and using it as a foundation for building modern, peaceful neighborly relations. Specific Objectives: - Reintegration of Regional Identity. Restoring awareness of the cultural proximity between our nations. We aim to show that our traditions are not isolated islands, but "communicating vessels" connected by a shared community of myths, symbols, and values. - Breaking Stereotypes and Barriers. Developing intercultural competences through direct dialogue. The aim is to replace historical prejudices with collective creative action that fosters empathy and openness toward our neighbors. - Mental Regeneration through "Digital Detox". Utilizing non-formal education methods, such as creative workshops (including traditional crafts, communal singing, and rituals), as tools to regain inner balance. Through hands-on creative work and authentic group contact, we aim to create a space for stillness and rest from digital overstimulation, thereby building participants' emotional resilience. The goal is to reduce stress through mindfulness rooted in the slow life philosophy. - Cultivating Eco-awareness. Translating ancient beliefs into the language of modern ecology. We want to promote an attitude of respect for nature as a core element of our identity, teaching youth responsibility for our shared ecosystem. - Developing Agency and Creativity. Shifting from the role of a passive culture consumer to an active creator. We aim to equip youth with the skills to merge tradition with modern forms of expression, strengthening their self-confidence and pride in their roots. - Building a Lasting Cooperation Network: Creating a foundation for future international initiatives by forging authentic friendships and partnerships among young leaders from Poland, Lithuania, Latvia, Croatia, and Czech Republic.
