The project was born from a concrete problem identified together with young people and specialists: youth with disabilities from smaller towns are almost entirely excluded from international educational experiences and have very limited opportunities for social engagement. We work daily with young people facing various difficulties - persons with disabilities, residents of special education centers, from low-income families. We see how much they need to break out of daily routine, how much they lack the chance to meet new people and try something different. Our needs assessment is based on three solid sources: (1) a survey conducted among 47 students from the Special Education Center (OSW) in Jaslo and 38 students from the center in Salcininkai, Lithuania (April-May 2025, simplified format with pictograms and educator support), (2) in-depth consultations with 14 specialists - 8 special education teachers and a psychologist from OSW Jaslo plus 6 teachers from Salcininkai, (3) national and European data - the GUS report "People with Disabilities 2024" indicating that only 12% of young people with disabilities participate in extracurricular educational activities, and the Eurydice report "Inclusion in Education" 2023. Survey results revealed alarming data: 89% of students from Jaslo had never participated in an international project, 72% had never traveled outside their region, 91% wanted to meet peers from another country but considered it "unrealistic". 78% declared feeling "unimportant" in social life, and 65% wanted to help others but did not know how. On the Lithuanian side: 84% had never had contact with foreign youth, 76% had low self-assessment of social competencies. The guiding idea is "Help starts with us" - we want to show young people that everyone, regardless of limitations, can be the one who helps, not just the one who receives help. This is a fundamental perspective shift: from "support recipient" to "active social participant". The specific theme connecting our organizations is organizing help - planning social campaigns, responding to others' needs, engaging in impactful activities. Our SMART goals: Goal 1 (RELATIONSHIPS): By the end of the exchange, at least 80% will declare establishing at least one lasting friendship with a peer from the other country (post-survey). After 3 months, at least 60% will maintain contact (follow-up survey). Goal 2 (AGENCY): At least 25% increase in average self-assessment score (simplified Rosenberg questionnaire with pictograms, pre/post). At least 70% will indicate feeling "capable of doing something important". Goal 3 (EMPATHY): 100% participation in at least 3 workshops. Each group designs a mini social campaign. At least 10 participants implement local social action within 6 months. Goal 4 (COOPERATION): Letter of intent signed. New Erasmus+ application within 12 months. The program was co-created with a formally established 9-person initiative group (5 PL + 4 LT). Activities will be led by qualified specialists: special education teacher, psychologist, and certified non-formal education trainer.
